HALF ASS DRAWING IN MRAC’S Ekphrastic Show, DECEMBER 2

An Ekphrastic Show is one that combines visual and verbal works of art: for example, a painting and a poem inspired by it, or a sculpture inspired by a poem and the poem. So, I am delighted to announce that my “Whimsical One-Liner” ink drawing HALF ASS DRAWING has inspired poet Mike Cohen to create a poem entitled “DONE-KEY.” Both the poem and the drawing can be viewed at the Manayunk-Roxborough Art Center, 419 Green Lane, Manayunk, PA from December 2, 2018 through December 9, 2018. There will be an opening reception from 12:00 until 3:00pm on Sunday, December 2nd.

UPDATE: MRAC 10th Annual Juried Show

UPDATE:  The Manayunk Roxborough Art Center (recently awarded the 2018  Classic Towns People’s Choice award for Best Art Gallery/Workshop in Roxborough) is not moving their 10th Annual Juried Show but is keeping it at the Green Street location.  Two of my Whimsical One-Liner drawings, BAD SUSHI and HALF ASS DRAWING (L-R, above) are on exhibit.  A Whimsical One-Liner is a single line drawing that never crosses itself and in which the title and image together are a play on words. In the case ofBAD SUSHI and HALF ASS DRAWING, I do hope that everyone concludes that the titles refer to the subject matter of the drawings, and not to how they were executed.

 

MRAC 10th Annual Juried Show

I am pleased to announce that juror Anthony Casasanto has included my Whimsical One-Liner ink drawings, BAD SUSHI and HALF ASS DRAWING, in the Manayunk-Roxborough Art Center’s 10th Annual Juried Show. The Show will run from July 15th through July 22nd at their gallery at 419 Green Lane and then shift to their gallery on Ridge Avenue in Roxborough until August 22nd. There will be an opening reception from 3 until 5 PM on Sunday, July 15th. Admission is free.

Great Grandad Was a T-Rex

Great Grand Dad Was A T-RexThe evolutionary line between a T-Rex and a chameleon may be direct, but it’s not directly straight!  This ink drawing is on display through tomorrow at my show at the Abington Arts Center. If you have not yet had a chance to come out and see the display, now is your last chance to see this show!

The Whimsical One-Liners are a series of original one-of-a-kind ink drawings. They are not prints,photographs, or digital images. Each One-Liner has two elements: verbal and visual. The verbal element is the classic description of a one-liner: a quip, a bon mot, a pun, or an observation, while the visual element is that the drawing is literally a one-liner – a single line that never crosses itself. It is the combination of the two elements that make them Whimsical One-Liners.

After tomorrow, all remaining works will still be available for sale.  Keep an eye out for the launch of my Etsy store soon!
