Contours of Flight #3 is part of a series of abstract hand inked and hand pulled collograph monoprints which draws on my stained glass and mosaic work to create images that appear to be in motion, engaged in some aspect of flight. I’m very happy to announce that juror David Jones has invited my collographic monoprint, Focal Point #5,into the “25th Parkside National Small Print Exhibition.” Focal Point #5 may be seen at the Fine Arts Gallery of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, 900 Wood Road, Kenosha, WI 53144 from January 30, 2017 until March 30, 2017.
Focal Point #3 ,a hand inked and hand pulled collograph monoprint is part of my “Focal Point” Series, the characteristics of which are: a single dot, or Focal Point; the use of straight lines and geometric shapes, primarily triangles and quadrangles; and the layering of colors. Matted and framed to 14″ x 11″.
My monoprint “As Memory Fades” has been accepted into the All About Art show at MossRehab. The 2016 show will kickoff with the Patron’s Preview Party on Thursday September 22, 2016 and run through November 4, 2016 at MossRehab’s Main Campus, 60 Township Line Road, Elkins Park, PA 19027.
AS MEMORY FADES, a hand pulled, two step ink on paper monoprint is my attempt, through the use of layered colors and lines to convey the conflicting emotions and to capture the sorrow, the poignancy and the courage I saw in my mother as her memory faded in her final years. Reaching for the Sun, a dark field monotype, is an experimental piece in which I tried out some new (at least to me) inks and inking techniques as well as exploring a non standard format – a long, narrow, vertically composed image. I like the result, and plan to do some more, even if it means I’ll have to work on building long, narrow frames. 15″ x 2″, matted and framed to 21 1/2″ x 8″.
Convergence, a hand-inked and hand-pulled collographic monoprint uses color and size shifts to convey a sense of motion to a central core, offset by a pulsation to the outer boundaries of the image. Matted and framed to 22″ x 28″.
I am very pleased to announce that juror, Paul Rhymer, has invited my Dark Field Monotype print, Migrations # 5 to be part of the Appalachian Nature Art Exhibition of the Alleghany Arts Council. Migrations #5 will be on view at the Saville Gallery, 9 Centre Street in Cumberland, MD from June 17th until July 9th. The opening reception is from 6 until 8 pm on June 18th. Migrations # 5 has also been part of juried shows in Arizona, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
Jupiter Rising is my conception of a scene from that time in the future when the colonization of Mars is well underway and mankind is beginning the in-person exploration of the outer planets. A hand inked and hand pulled collographic monoprint on black Reeves paper. Matted and framed to 28″ x 22″.
Peer Group: Across the Spectrum is a hand pulled ink on paper collographic monoprint that is intended to be peered at, and enjoyed, on several different levels. Matted and framed to 20 x 16”.
