ABSTRACTING EMOTIONS #8 is the eighth in my “Abstracting Emotions” Series which uses two different types of my handmade paper. The printing, a hand inked and hand pulled dark field monotype, was done on paper made from scrap watercolor, BFK, and business correspondence paper which were shredded, boiled together, sheeted and Plexiglas dried to create a white/off white relatively monochromatic and smooth printing paper. The print was then mounted on a different sheet of my handmade paper which was made from scrap black and brown BFK, watercolor and business correspondence in order to create a patterned and textured counterpoint to the print. In a way ABSTRACTING EMOTIONS #’S 6 and 8 are companion pieces. (16” x 16”) (2019) ($250.00)

I am very pleased to announce that juror Roxanne Phillips has invited my Joomchi wall hanging THE ART OF THE GERRYMANDER to be part of the Webster Arts national juried “Works on Paper” Exhibition. Webster Arts is located at 483 E. Lockwood, St. Louis, MO 63119 and the Exhibition will run from July 16, 2019 until August 30, 2019. Fifty Shades of Green
FIFTY SHADES OF GREEN is a paper collage which uses two basic shapes: circles and triangles, to create both a feeling of motion and a sense of confinement within a single, if broadly defined palette. Everything in FIFTY SHADES OF GREEN, including the title, is recycled. Matted and framed to 18” x 14

BIG CLIPS AND BUMP STOCKS
BIG CLIPS AND BUMP STOCKS, a paper collage, is a follow up to SANDY HOOK: HOPES, FEARS AND THE NRA and was started after the Las Vegas shootings. Both pieces use the same materials (recycled paper and light cardboard) and tools (scissors, and a paper punch), recognizing that virtually nothing changed between the two events except the scale of the massacre which is reflected by the larger size of BIG CLIPS AND BUMP STOCKS. While I would prefer to stop with BIG CLIPS AND BUMP STOCKS, in reality, I expect this to be an ongoing series. Matted and framed to 18” x 24”.
